Two Main Types, Countless Stories
Our research recognizes two main styles of Xhubleta:
The Grand Xhubleta
Worn by Kelmend women, it features a wide bell-like base and a white woolen trim. It’s common in northern Albania and among Albanians in Montenegro.
The Pult Variant
Slimmer and highly ornate, with intricate multicolor embroidery and unique double aprons (front and back). Popular in Dukagjin, Theth, and the Puka regions.
There's also a hybrid version worn in the Nikaj-Mërtur region, blending features from both styles, depending on intermarriages and tribal origins.
Preserving an Ancient Elegance
Welcome to Xhubleta.com, the official website of the Xhubleta Anthropological Center under the TRE MARIAT Foundation.
We are devoted to the research, preservation, and promotion of the ancient Albanian cultural heritage symbolized by the Xhubleta timeless ceremonial garment worn by generations of highland women.
Through years of fieldwork, publications, open lectures, exhibitions, and creative collaborations, we continue to tell the story of this cultural treasure.
